This month we introduce another teammate from the DevOps team, Darko Kadinski. He is a Senior System Engineer responsible for establishing reliable network for the company’s operations, as well as for the client environment. He enables implementation of our products on specific environments, and also works on automation and simplification of the processes.

Darko’s #SingularStory has two parts. Namely, he joined the team for the first time in 2015, and again in 2018. When asked about why he decided to come back he says:

1. MOST RECENTLY USED TECHNOLOGIES:

The DevOps has started using a lot of popular software tools which I personally like and I’m glad that the company has implemented them. I am mostly working with Unix/Linux Operating systems and services, as well as Networking and Firewalls to ensure the security of the applications. I am also focused on the automation of operations from  implementation to release phase. For that, I am engaged with CI/CD with Ansible and Jenkins. I would also mention Monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana technologie that we use frequently.

2. BIGGEST CHALLENGE:

I would say the migration of one of our clients’ services to Amazon Web Services (AWS). Although AWS offer a number of options to  overcome the scaling challenges without investing huge amount of money in hardware infrastructure, some issues may emerge. Nevertheless, I got a valuable knowledge from this experience.

3. THE MOST IMPORTANT SKILL FOR SUCCESS IN THIS PROFESSION:

The more sophisticated the application, there are more challenges for System Engineers. A successful System Engineer finds more than one solution and identifies the best approach for solving it. It takes real commitment and persistence to do so.
